Your Stripe revenue, properly accounted for
ClearingHouse syncs invoices, payments, refunds, and fees from Stripe into FreeAgent. Categorised by product, with multi-currency support.
Start SyncingFreeAgent's Stripe integration wasn't built for this
If your business runs on Stripe, you already know the problem. FreeAgent's native integration is designed to make FreeAgent invoices payable with Stripe, not to get your Stripe data into your accounts accurately.
That means no invoice syncing. No per-product categorisation. No multi-currency support. And when a customer pays a Stripe subscription, your P&L has no idea which product generated that revenue.
So you're left splitting payouts, adding payment and fee information, being careful to map and categorise everything properly. Every single time.
Most integrations treat Stripe as a bank feed. We treat it as your revenue system.
Stripe invoices, mirrored in FreeAgent
Every Stripe invoice, including subscriptions, creates a matching invoice in FreeAgent. Credit notes and refunds are linked back automatically. Your accounts reflect what actually happened, not a simplified summary.
Categorise revenue by what you actually sell
Map each Stripe product or price to a specific FreeAgent accounting category. Subscription revenue goes to one category, one-off sales to another. Your P&L breaks down revenue the way your business works, not as a single "Stripe payments" line.
Every currency in your Stripe balance, tracked separately
ClearingHouse creates a clearing account for each currency in your Stripe balance: GBP, EUR, USD, and any others. Each one is tracked independently in FreeAgent, so your books stay accurate across currencies.
Transactions sync as they happen
Charges, refunds, and fees are picked up and synced into FreeAgent automatically. Payouts reconcile on schedule. No batch exports, no waiting until month-end.

How is this different from FreeAgent's built-in Stripe integration?
FreeAgent's integration is designed to make FreeAgent invoices payable with Stripe. ClearingHouse goes the other direction: it syncs your Stripe invoices, payments, refunds, and fees into FreeAgent with proper categorisation and multi-currency support.
What Stripe data gets synced?
Stripe invoices are mirrored in FreeAgent with full line-item detail. Charges, refunds, credit notes, fees (including Stripe Connect and platform fees), payouts, and adjustments are all synced too. Each transaction is recorded as a bank transaction explanation in FreeAgent.
How does per-product categorisation work?
You can map each of your Stripe products to a specific FreeAgent accounting category. When an invoice syncs, each line item is categorised based on the product sold, so your revenue is broken down by what you actually sell rather than lumped into a single "Stripe income" line.
What are clearing accounts and why do you use them?
A clearing account is a virtual bank account in FreeAgent that represents your Stripe balance. Payments flow in, fees and payouts flow out. When a payout lands in your real bank account, ClearingHouse automatically explains it as a transfer from the clearing account. This keeps everything balanced and makes reconciliation straightforward. Learn more in our clearing accounts guide.
Does it support multiple currencies?
Yes. ClearingHouse creates a separate clearing account in FreeAgent for each currency in your Stripe balance: GBP, EUR, USD, and any others.
How quickly do transactions sync?
Transactions sync in real-time. As soon as a charge, refund, or payout happens in Stripe, ClearingHouse receives a webhook and syncs it to FreeAgent within seconds.
What Stripe and FreeAgent permissions do you need?
You need to be a Stripe Administrator to install the ClearingHouse app, and you need FreeAgent Access Level 7 (Tax, Accounting & Users) or above. We use OAuth so you never share your password with us. If you're an accountant without admin access to your client's Stripe, you can send them an install link to authorize the connection themselves.
Is my data secure?
Yes. All connections use encrypted HTTPS, and we authenticate with Stripe and FreeAgent using OAuth, meaning we never see or store your passwords. Your data is stored securely and we only access what's needed to sync your transactions. See our security page for more details.
How much does it cost?
£10/month for businesses. Accountants and bookkeepers pay £15/month plus £10 per business they manage. Every plan includes a 14-day free trial. See the pricing page for full details.
Built by a real person
I'm Duncan, a Software Developer from Glasgow. I've run my own business for over 5 years and I'm one of those rare business owners who actually enjoys bookkeeping.
I built ClearingHouse because I was either spending time splitting every payout and reconciling fees properly, or just mapping the whole payout to a category and hoping for the best. Neither felt right.
ClearingHouse keeps Stripe and FreeAgent aligned so you can spend more time running your business.
