“My research journey was significantly shaped by my experience at CHIRAL Bangladesh, for which I am deeply grateful. Through their structured internship training program, I received mentorship and foundational training in research methodology, research ethics, mobile data collection, academic writing, and data analysis using R. These sessions helped me understand the principles of responsible research and evidence-based scientific inquiry. During the internship, I conducted literature reviews, designed questionnaires and collected data using KoboToolbox, and contributed to the development of health campaign resources. The program also emphasized professionalism, encouraging regular participation in sessions, assignments, and collaborative learning.
In addition to the internship, I had the opportunity to participate in the Bioinformatics BootCamp Cohort 4.0, which greatly expanded my understanding of computational biology. Through this program, I learned to explore biological databases such as NCBI, perform advanced BLAST searches, and study comparative genomics. The training also introduced me to multiple sequence alignment, phylogenetic analysis, selection analysis, next-generation sequencing applications, structural bioinformatics, and protein domain and motif analysis, as well as protein–protein interaction studies. These experiences helped me appreciate how bioinformatics tools can be applied to investigate complex biological questions.
I also completed the “R for Research” training program, where I developed practical skills in statistical analysis and data visualization. This program taught me how to create publication-ready tables and figures, analyze and visualize Likert-scale data, and perform statistical tests such as descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, ANOVA, and t-tests. The program emphasized reproducible research and included hands-on projects with real datasets, which strengthened my confidence in applying computational and statistical methods to research problems.
Later, I joined the Big Bioinformatics Lab, where I began learning RNA-seq analysis using R and am currently learning Salmon-based pipelines for transcriptomic data analysis. I remain sincerely thankful to CHIRAL Bangladesh for providing the mentorship, training, and research opportunities that laid the foundation for my growth in computational and biomedical research.”

“Though I first formally worked with Jubayer Vai during the GSA Bioinformatics Internship 2025, I had been following his work long before that. In mid-2024, when I was trying to learn R programming on my own, I struggled to find reliable beginner-friendly resources.
