You may find it convenient not to use VC++. You can make directly. Create links in the top-level to the appropriate Makefile and test benchmark scripts:

$ ln -s ./makefiles/Makefile_intel64 Makefile
$ ln -s ./scripts/runtests.bash runtest.bash
$ chmod u+x runtest.bash
$ make
$ ./runtest.bash
